Pressed But Not Crushed

Having a little boy inserted into our lives has made it tiring, challenging and interesting all at the same time. I had a different post that I could have done each day, since the circumstances and situation with Josiah has changed every day, though the tiredness factor superseded my desire to write.

It still in some ways is a little surreal to know that there is a small person that we are responsible for, though obviously very real in how he has affected our lives, as well as thought processes.

It's been a rough week and a half, getting home from the hospital, losing sleep while at the same time this week getting back to work (and trying to catch up). We then dealt with Josiah's bout with some dehydration, which now thankfully he's back on the mend.

The weirdest thing about all this is losing track of what day it is; the tired feeling you get really disorients you in some ways and the fact that I did not make it to church last Sunday didn't help. Routine can help to structure your life and keep you somewhat situated, but a baby comes along and whoa! We're so thankful to have him, though.

I do have to comment how wonderful it has been to have her mother here during all of this, and the support of our church in providing meals for us; God is gracious in the friends He has given. He is faithful, to the uttermost.

Hang on! It does get easier! As Josiah gets a little older, you will find that creating a regular routine for him helps keep everyone happy! Little ones thrive when their world is predictable, so setting a routine of regular nap and bed times(with flexibility for spontenaety of course), and laying clear boundaries for him to understand, makes life easier and more pleasant all around! The newborn stage is tough because you're just trying to figure it all out, and as you said, it's overwhelming this new responsibility you have and the interruptions in your life. But, it is SOOOOOO worth it every time he shows you that you are his everything! It's awesome, so enjoy!
